OLD CATHEDRAL AND NEW CATHEDRAL

Churches at Brescia

ADDRESS
Piazza Paolo VI,

Dedicated to Blessed Montini, the square sees the Romanesque Duomo Vecchio, or Rotonda, aligned to the south, which preserves not only valuable works (Moretto, Romanino), the treasure of the Holy Crosses, exposed to the veneration of the faithful on 14 September and last Friday of Lent; in the center, majestic and solemn, the imposing Baroque façade of the New Cathedral, with its majestic dome, where the Pope from Brescia was ordained (he celebrated the first mass in Santa Maria delle Grazie): inside there is a monument to him dedicated, by Raffaele Scorzelli (1984). Closes the square to the north the Palazzo del Broletto - the old town hall - with the tower of Pègol.
